Dear John
Author: Nicholas Sparks
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing
Page Count: 352
John, raised by a single parent who doesn’t speak much, is a rebel who doesn’t know what to do with his life so he enlisted in the Army. Coming back to his town for his leave, he meets Savannah, the girl of his dreams. She’s in town with her friends and other people to volunteer to build a house. John and Savannah spends everyday with each other, falling in love. She also spends time with his dad and learns what’s wrong with him. He goes back to duty and she writes him regularly. When it is time to almost reunite, 9/11 happens and he reenlists again. Tired of the long separation, mostly John’s decision, Savannah marries someone else. John visits her one day and rekindled their friendship but current circumstances leave John troubled.
This love story is about love, love for a parent, developmental disorder, patience, and sacrifice. I don’t think there’s any Nicholas Sparks book that I didn’t enjoy reading.
